Annual Hug a Vet Day

For the past several years, I have been invited to be a celebrity greeter at the ANNUAL HUG A VET DAY.  This actually a week to honor and remember thgose that give us the freedoms that we enjoy.

F

If you would like to join me this year- please respond to teamjab@aol.com in the subject header, put hug a vet…I try to take as many goodies, cookies, chocolates, etc (as well as sugar free treats) to leave with the vets.  If you are interested in donating “sweet stuff,” respond to teamjab@aol.com in the subject header, put ”sweet stuff for vets” so I can coordinate with you on pickup.  I hope you can join me.  The date is February 12th (Friday) from 12:30-3:00pm.

Dear Jennifer,

I would personally like to thank every member of TEAMJAB for your continued support and dedication to becoming a more functionally fit person- for making a difference through your generous donations to our many charities, and for making my job the FUNNEST…yeah funnest job around. (even though you all bitch and moan way too much)

With the influx of all the new members (people that are finally figuring out how ECONOMICAL and ENJOYABLE our brutal workouts are)  I have been able to bring on two new Platoon leaders to accomodate the areas and times that are most reuested by memebrs.  See input below from Platoon Leader’s Costa and Lewis.

I encourage you to send in more requests for new locations and times….and let your friends know about us by forwarding this email to them.  You will find coupons at the bottom of this newsletter for them to take advantage of a free bootcamp…also find a raffle ticket to fill out for a TEAMJAB BOOTCAMP backpack- drawing to be held at the end of the month.  Put into the PAYMENT BAG at the next bootcamp to be eligible.

Please be patient with your requests, I handle them as quickly as possible, there are so many fat, out of shape people that need my help, it’s hard to get you all.

Remember, don’t judge me by how I look, but by how much better I am than you are-

Until next month-

UPDATE FROM PLATOON LEADER COSTA

><span>billhead</span> align=right src=Well the first week is down and I must say I really enjoyed it. TEAMJAB is a great group of people that love to train.  It will take time for me to learn everyone’s strengths and weaknesses, but I am looking forward to more hard core training.  Like anything, the more you put into something, the greater the results.  Your results won’t come in a pill, it comes from hard work.  I am grateful for the opportunity that Jen has given me to work with all of you.  Don’t quit on me and I won’t quit on you.  So enough of all this mushy shit, I better see your fat asses at my next class.

                      Platoon Leader Costa

***make sure to notify any of your “stay at home” friends that we offer mid-day workouts now!!!

UPDATE FROM PLATOON LEADER LEWIS

TAYLOR

Great Job this week!  You guys took the challenge and pushed  through every work out.  Getting up to work out at 5am is hard enough, but everyone was positive and challenged themselves in each workout.  Set daily goals for your self and strive to reach them each and every day. Just remember when times get tough, think of what you want to look like in order to get you through it. “Persistence and determination will lead to endless opportunities” Let’s strive to encourage other people to join in on the TEAMJAB workouts, and help others to make a difference in there bodies.

Dear Team JAB,

Thank you so very much for all your wonderful donations last Thursday! The staff and kids were so surprised at the amount of supplies that you all donated for our camping trip! We were able to take 15 kids and 6 staff on our Kings Canyon Park adventure. During our trip, we took two hikes (Thank Goodness for bootcamp, let me tell you!), dipped our toes into the Kings River, played volleyball, told ghost stories, and so much more! Because of all of you, we collected: 8 sleeping bags (that were all taken and used!)

8 sleeping bags (that were all taken and used!)

2 flats of water
2 tents
3 cast iron skillets
1 cast iron grill
1 cast iron pot
100 cupsplastic wear
4 hand sanitizer
3 boxes chip snacks
4 boxes of ziploc baggies
deodorant sprays
10 little toothpastes
1 ultra catch game
80 paper plates
1 backpack
1 lacrosse set
2 LARGE piles of wood (this totally saved our cold butts!!)
$191 that was spent on our entrance fee, food, flashlights and batteries, trash bags, etc, etc, etc.

You are all some of the most amazing and generous people I’ve ever met and I genuinely enjoy your company each and every time we are being voluntarily tortured out there! This, I’m sure, will be an experience that our kids will never forget.

Thank you from the bottom of our Si Se Puede hearts!

To the entire TEAM J.A.B. group,

WOW!!  You out did yourselves.  We had a wonderful turn out of 76 donors registering for TEAM J.A.B. on Saturday.  We can’t thank you enough for wanting to host the blood drive and for recruiting so many donors to participate.  That was fantastic!!  We would love for you to do this again sometime in December or January when our supplies are low and the need so great.

    Okay Jen ~

Here’s how it all went down …

A year ago April (2008) I was at an event and had the two pictures taken in the beaded skirt. I thought I looked really nice that evening. I got the pictures later, and could not believe how fat I was. I’d been in complete and utter denial. I was 210 lbs. worth of denial.

I knew my 30th class reunion was in a year, and there was NO WAY I was going to go looking like that. That was my impetus to get the weight off. My brother Tim had been on me to come try out Bootcamp, and I finally decided it was time to give you & Team JAB a shot.

I remember my first Bootcamp, when I approached you with a blown out knee and a million excuses why I couldn’t do it.  We were at Clovis West, and you told me to just start walking.  Walking around the track.  I huffed and puffed my way around the track.  Then we did some group activities, and towards the end of the hour, we’d played a round of tag!  Extreme tag!  It was so much fun!  I felt compelled to come back again … and again … and again.  The first two weeks, I was so incredibly sore, and the summer heat and bad air caused my lungs to scorch.  But amazingly, my body started responding … pretty soon the weight was coming off!

I don’t have a scale at home, but clothing-wise, I’ve gone from a Lane Bryant Size 16/18 to a normal Petite misses 12/14.

    Lisa Nelson

    Lisa Nelson

I’m off of all blood pressure medications.  I’m off of all anti-depressants and anxiety medications, too.

I ran the Komen run last fall … Ran the Marine Corp Mud Run this summer … Was on the StreetStrider R&D team and rode in the Xmas parade … If there’s a signup sheet for anything physical, you can pretty much count me in!  And this comes from the girl who was ALWAYS chosen last in jr. high PE class.  Today, my Bootcamp BFF’s WANT me on their team! AMAZING! The friendships I’ve made at Bootcamp are ones that will last a lifetime.

And then, there’s the giving back … We did the Extreme Home Makeover.  You’ve helped me with the Children’s Hospital cancer kids.  And all of the other opportunities to support good things have added that much more to MY life!

So the 30th reunion has come and gone.  I paced myself at the buffet table, maybe had a little too much champagne, but have made a commitment to keep up the healthy routine despite the festivities being over!  Of course I’m still a work in progress, but am a far different – and much better – person than I was 16 months ago!

I think the best thing I heard over the reunion weekend came from one of the football jocks … while wading in a sea of some severely obese classmates, the jocks called me over and we got reacquainted – and I was prounounced ”smokin’ hot” by one of them!  LOL  Never thought of myself that way, but of course, I’ll take it!

    Lisa Nelson

    Lisa Nelson

You can certainly use my story as a ringing endorsement to encourage anyone that needs some motivation.  If I can do it, anyone can!

Thank you so much for providing a place where we can come and laugh, cry, form lasting friendships, get healthy, learn, vent, piss and moan, and even fart.  Hahahahhah!  I know that the ultimate desire has to come from within, but YOU have made my life so much better by providing a place that feels safe.  I wish I’d win the lottery, and I’d finance your Fat Farm dream!

God Bless you and yours … I love you bunches!
